This week, we got back from winter break, and I continued working on my video game project. First of all, I finished all the animations for one of my characters, as seen in the first video below. I had to downsize the amount of characters and maps to 10 each. Instead of making even more progress, I had to help out my classmate, Sacha Silvia, mill his PCB. This is the second time that I had to help him mill a PCB, so I hope he finally picked it up, so he can do it himself. Furthermore, I provided some critique for the slideshow guide that my shop provides that teaches students how to operate the PCB mill, since it missed some steps in the instructions. In terms of my game project, I improved the button UI. The buttons used to change color permanently when pressed, but I made it so the buttons only changed color for a short time when the enter key or left mouse was pressed. I also finished the character selection screen, with the stats that correlate to each playable character. I am using placeholder sprite assets until I finish making the assets for certain characters. That is why some characters look like some other copyrighted characters. Once I finish completing the assets for a playable character, I will replace the placeholder PNGs with the correct ones and code for the correct animations. As seen in the bottom video below, players can use buttons to cycle through playable characters in the character selection scene, and the character and maps that they select will be shown in the actual game scene. I accomplished this by using a public static int with a number 1-10 that correlates to each playable character and map.
