This week was cut short for me for a few reasons. Firstly, on Monday I was out of school due to the fact that I was sick. This illness persisted the rest of the week. Furthermore, on Thursday we had gym 6th period, so I was only in shop for one period that day. Nevertheless, I persisted, and I was able to get a lot of work done this week. Firstly, I had to model and 3D print a USB mount for the safe. I have it so that you can either use a USB to power the safe or use a 5v battery, and either will work in giving power to the PCB. However, the process of actually making the USB mount proved to be more troublesome than I initially expected and hoped for. I had a previous model of the USB mount from my light box project, but I had to make some modifications so that it would better suit the safe model that I had already made. The 4th image below shows the model of the USB that I ended up using as my model to 3D print.
The 3D printing process also gave me some issues. It took me 3 prints on one of the 3D printers until I was finally able to get a good print. The first print just didn't print, the second print came off of the bed mid-print, but the third print finally gave me what I was looking for, and I was able to get a good print. The finished USB mount can be seen in the last image below. Also this week, I did some more work in CAD so that next week I will finally be ready to use the waterjet to cut out some of the sides. For example, I modelled holes in one of the sides for the USB mount and for a header mount that will go to the battery. Pictures of this can be seen in the first 3 images below.
