This week, I got a lot of work done. Firstly, I redesigned the design for my Arcade Machine in Fusion 360. I didn't like the old design because it was too big, and it wasted a lot of wood in my opinion, so I decided to create a new design for it. The new design looks better in my opinion, and it will also be way easier to put together, because I wont have to make any angles on the wood after the cutting process, like I would have had to do with the last design. With the help of Milo Austin, a classmate of mine, I was able to modify the design to account for the router when it has to make a corner. I put in singlets at each corner, so the router can properly make the cut. I had to do this because, since the bit in the router is round, it can't make a 90 degree angle properly on its own. I also created projections of all the sides of the arcade machine, which I can then use for cutting it out. I also constrained all of my sketches in my design, which was a tumultuous and exhausting process, especially when constraining the sketch for the side pieces of the arcade machine.
Also, this week, I made new map assets for the actual Nate Ball game. Seen below are the assets that I made. The racetrack map has animations where the crowd people yell stuff out in speech bubbles, and cars zoom by every once in a while. This took me a long time to make. Finding the scale to make everything has also been very tough, and I might have to recreate the racetrack map, along with its animations, because it appears too big in-game, and it kinda messes with your depth perception. This should be a relatively easy fix, as I just have to resize the file and put more stuff in it, but it will also take a long time, because I am going to have to recreate each of the 30+ frames in the animations. Furthermore, I also had to fix a few bugs that I found in the game's code, as well as cleaning up some of the code. For example, I found and fixed a bug in my tournament behavior script, which made several variables in the code completely useless and not needing to be there. I just deleted all instances of these variables and reduced the amount of code in the script from roughly 900 lines to around 870 lines. I also plan on nerfing the double-jump ability in the future, since, through play testing, I have found that it's kind of overpowered.
