This week I continued working on my safe project. In particular, I had to make a design of the safe in the sheet metal mode of Fusion 360. On Monday and Tuesday, I taught myself how to use the sheet metal features in Fusion to the point that I am now able to output impeccable designs almost effortlessly. On Tuesday, I was able to finish up my design and export it to a DXF file. I was then able to take that DXF into Inkscape and color code the different aspects of the design, such as the bend lines, for instance. Seen in the first picture below.
Then, on Wednesday, I started working on a little side project for Mr. L, one of my shop teachers. He wanted me to make a sign for all the college pennants we are receiving from former Engineering & Robotics members. For instance, we have already received pennants from graduates who are attending UMass Lowell, and UC Boulder. While designing this sign, I was given full creative control, which is why my name is so large and placed smack dab in the front so everyone can see who made the sign. Also, I ran into a problem while designing the robotics logo, since I had to create the entire thing from scratch in a sketch. On Thursday, I modeled the mount holes, got the mounts I will be using, spray painted the acrylic, and then lasercut the sign. These can be seen in the images below.
